In 2017 we were invited to Prince George to help our client design a home for a wooded property on the Nechako River.
The location posed a set of challenges which we frequently encounter on other sites. The first one being that the view of the river is to the north, while sun is to the south. How do we take advantage of the natural light without over glazing the non-view side? To deal with this, the main living area has a series of high clerestory windows to fill the living space with natural light.
Another challenge we frequently come across on rural properties is insects. A generous, screened outdoor living room was the perfect solution for this client.
It was a pleasure to collaborate with the interior design team of Novak + Huizenga Studio on this project.
