This was conceived as a modern take on the Craftsman style, reflected in the shingles, detailing, posts, and stone base, with a butterfly roof to update the overall look. The house was oriented to optimize the views, along with generous windows for lots of light. To do justice to the clients’ excellent art collection, we opted for a versatile interior that would accommodate different styles of décor. A full archaeological assessment of the site yielded many artifacts aging over 2000 years, which were properly retrieved and archived. A number of beautiful old oaks and arbutus trees lent character to the site, so we nestled the house in with a minimum of disruption to the trees.
